Oreo and Maddie: The Cookie Monsters

Remember our little Maddie who received a snuffle mat? https://tnrtrustnairobi.wordpress.com/2017/12/08/maddies-new-toy/

Maddie was found on the Nairobi streets at only about 6 months old. She had a horrible eye infection, her ears were a mess and had a broken leg. We took her to the vet, who performed surgery and gave her the proper medication.

Because she was not allowed to put too much pressure on her broken leg, she boarded at the vet for a while. When TNR Trust Volunteers would visit her to check up on her and give her a bit of tender, love and car, she would shower us with kisses and constantly whine/talk because she was so excited.

A well-wisher called Mahua decided to make Maddie a snuffle mat, to keep her busy while she was confined to the kennel. And guess what? Mahua completely fell in love with Maddie.

She had already adopted a dog called Oreo from TNR Trust, and was surprised at how many similarities there were between Oreo and Maddie: they are both females, both rescued after being found with a broken leg as a puppy, in the same area, were fostered and nursed by dedicated foster parents on behalf of TNR Trust, and now: adopted by the same family!

It appears the new adoption family “specialises” in dogs who also happen to have cookie names and of course, as Kenyan dogs are famous for: bizarrely big ears which never seem to know which way to stand!

Thank you adopters! We know that you will love having those 2 cookies around!

Also a very special thanks to Dr Cockar and staff of COCKAR VETERINARY CLINIC and all the foster parents who committed to them being healed and happy dogs!
